GVP Golf Program

Golf Programs
Golden Village Palms has a great-organized golf programs for both the ladies and the men. This program starts November and continues through March. Of course, there is always the option to play any of the great courses in the area on your own. Many of the courses reduced green fees year round when you stay at the resort.

The organized programs invite all guests to participate whether you area staying a couple of days, weeks or months. All levels of handicaps are welcome to join in.

Golfers sign up at the Golf Room located in the Shuffleboard Pavilion; just walk in the main door and straight ahead is where all the golfing fun begins. Supply your site number a phone number (if you have one). Golfers are then placed into a foursome with a designated driver and assigned tee time for the course you are scheduled to play for that day.

Special green fees have been arranged for our guests. A captain will be appointed for each group. That person is responsible for collecting green fees, arranging transportation and keeping the group’s scorecard. Rider’s share gas costs and pay $1.00 event fee. Golf balls are awarded for the competition in various fun games. The schedule of dates and course played is posted in the Golf Room.

Golf Mixers are held two Thursdays a month followed by a Potluck dinner party. Each couple brings something to share at the after-golf party. The party is held on the patio weather permitting.

In February the annual Golden Village Palms Open is held at Diamond Valley Golf Club. This is a shotgun tournament using a Callaway or handicap system. It is an early morning tournament, but well worth it. Other tournaments may also be held during the snowbird season. Notices of dates and other particulars are always posted in the golf room, displayed on GVP cable TV message board and in the Activity Office.

Every golf event is “intended to be fun with some non-serious competition”. All Golden Village Palms golfing guests are encouraged to join the fun in any or all of the golfing programs.

Our associations maintain handicaps in accordance with USGA standards and will apply a handicap from another jurisdiction to this association. If you have an established handicap index or 20 rounds at your local club, please bring them by to your appropriate handicap chairperson. They will set up a handicap for each golfing guest to use while residing in the resort. It makes it easier for all involved if we take care of this in the beginning. Our groups use computers to maintain handicaps, arrange pairings, printing scorecards and information sheets. Scores will be adjusted by the computer according to USGA rules.

If you wish to play on your own, you can refer to the map on Golf Course Location. Phone numbers are listed and most courses take tee time reservations 7 days in advance. Make sure to identify yourself as a resort guest when making your reservation and arriving at course to receive special rates.

Golden Village Palm’s Men’s Golf Club program will alternate between Diamond Valley and Soboba Springs on Mondays, south of Hemet. On Wednesdays they will be playing Hemet Landmark. All three are great challenging courses.

The men’s program holds an annual Christmas banquet in December and a Year –end banquet in March. Both are fun and include the golf wives and lady friends. Prizes and gifts are awarded through out each event.

The Ladies Golf Club offers a complete golf program, whether you are here for a week, month or a season, all skill levels are welcome to play.

The ladies play every Monday at Sun City at 10:00 am. All you have to do is sign up, take care of your handicap (we help you) and you are ready to go. We share the driving and it is a great way to meet new friends. Sun City is a walking course only (Executive 18 hole course) and at a length that is suited for everyone.

On Wednesdays we play many of the regulation courses that are located close by. From November to January we will be teaming up with the men and playing the Hemet Landmark course. From January on, we will be alternating around the area to many of the wonderful courses available to us.

Women’s Golf
The Ladies program for those of you staying the winter season, offer a year-end competition the first week of March. The following week a “themed” luncheon is held for award presentations, fun and a chance to formally bring the season to a close. We encourage all former members and those “golf widows” from the men’s club to attend. The more the merrier is our motto.
